Good afternoon,
Hope everyone is enjoying their extended time off due to the recent weather. I wanted to touch base with the students regarding the rest of the week. 1) Due to no school tomorrow, there will be no percussion ensemble rehearsal at all this week. Plan on Tuesday 2/3 for our next rehearsal from 2:45-3:45pm. 2) Myself, along with Mrs. Markiewicz and Mr. Piskach will be attending a professional conference on Thursday and Friday so we will be absent from school (if there happens to be school on those days...) Please plan on study hall time during those days. Symphonic Band will be in the band room both days, Concert Band will be in the choir room both days. 3) There is a pep rally currently scheduled for Friday afternoon. The band will not be performing as we normally would since I will not be there. You should sit with your class on the home side for the pep rally. 4) The Pep Band will not be playing at Friday night's basketball game as previously planned and as I have previously announced. Our final games are 2/10 and 2/17. 5) The next Band Booster meeting is Tuesday 2/3 at 7pm in the LHS band room. Please make an effort to attend! Let me know if you have any questions. I hope everyone stays safe, sound, and warm in the meantime. See ya when we see ya! Mr. B Enjoy the clip below as you are bored at home...from Vivaldi's The Four Seasons, you'll find Winter. You may recognize it from commercials (or ads, as you call them haha). It has been used for jewelry commercials and last year for an Asics shoe commercial as well. Anyways, the opening is intended to depict the slow, persistent fall of snowflakes, and the rapid trills of the violins represent the chattering of teeth caused by intense cold. https://youtu.be/ZPdk5GaIDjo?si=EdTEvVNLPKGUU32s Band Prom will be held on Saturday, December 6 from 7:00-10:00pm in the Fellowship Hall at Paradise Church. This is a formal dance. Tickets are $15.00 and will be available from members of the Band Council. This is a voluntary event. Students do not need to have a date to attend.
On Sunday, December 7, the marching band and color guard will be performing for "Light Up Louisville". Students will gather in the parking lot behind Paradise Church at 5:30pm. We will be leading a short parade to the community Christmas tree. The tree will be lit at 6:00pm. Once the tree is lit, we will return to Paradise Church for dismissal. Students should dress in the spirit of the holiday...Christmas clothes, red and green etc. Be creative, decorate your instruments and have fun! 8th grade marchers and RG Drage students are encouraged to attend. Music will be distributed in class. RG Drage students may pick up their music in the band room. The band room will be open from 5:00-5:20pm for anyone who needs to pick up their instrument or equipment. Please see below.
