We rehearse from 8am-noon Monday-Friday. This means that you are in your seat with your instrument and rehearsal materials by 8am.
Bring water in a water bottle labeled with your name. We do not provide water at our school rehearsals, but we do at band camp. You are permitted to have water at your seat in the band room and on the sidelines when we are outside. Although we will have plenty of scheduled water breaks, you are permitted to get a drink anytime. However, you are not allowed to share water with others. You must bring your own.
Dress comfortably. This means athletic clothing that is cool and allows you to move freely. Jeans and long pants are not permitted. You must wear a comfortable pair of tennis shoes (with socks). Other footwear is not permitted. You are encouraged to wear hats and sunglasses.
Eat breakfast. Although we have a lot of fun and we do rehearse inside for part of the day, we will be outside quite a bit. This activity may be the most strenuous thing many of you have done at this point...please use common sense and don't come to band on an empty stomach.
Bring your medical forms on Monday. This is VERY important. Forms were mailed home at the end of the school year and they can be printed using the link below.
Come to rehearsal the first week with an open mind and be excited! You are about to embark on an amazing season and school year...and by the end of the first week you are likely to have 160 new friends. How cool is that?
A few other reminders about week one...
Monday night (7/22) is a band booster meeting at 7pm in the high school band room. Please attend! Parent involvement is crucial to our success as a group. Don't feel shy or intimidated. The band boosters have tons of fun together supporting our band students.
All students must be fitted for a uniform. Dates are below. All fittings are between 6:30-8:00pm in the band room. BAND FEES SHOULD BE PAID AT THE FITTING.
Tuesday 7/23 Seniors and Juniors
Wednesday 7/24 Sophomores
Friday 7/26 Freshman
Band Camp at Bethany College, WV is from Sunday July 28-Friday August 2. This information was also mailed home at the end of the school year, but you may also view it below.
