Louisville High School Marching Band Showcase
Saturday, September 19, 2020
7:00pm Louisville Stadium
Students will report to the HS band room in full uniform at 6:00pm. Equipment and other gear will be loaded at this time.
We will depart for the stadium as a group at 6:30pm. The show will begin at 7:00pm.
We will perform until approximately 7:45pm and at that time you will be dismissed from the stadium. If you would like pictures with family and friends inside the stadium and/or on the field, we will reserve approximately 30 minutes to do so once the performance ends.
There is no need for a ticket and this is a free event.
Spectators must conduct a symptom check before coming to Louisville Stadium and should not attend if experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19.
Spectators may not sit in seats that are marked with caution tape. Spectators must wear a facial covering at all times. If you are planning on taking a few pictures, please wear your facial covering until just before the picture is taken.
Once finished for the night, please exit the stadium. The band room will be available for students who need access after the performance.
Thank you for following these guidelines, and we hope to see you on Saturday!
See below for this Friday's itinerary for the game vs. St. Vincent St. Mary
Also be sure to read through the information provided by OHSAA concerning Senior Night.
Just a reminder from OHSAA...
If your school chooses to have a ‘Senior Night’ celebration, please let the opposing team know ahead of time and ensure that student-athletes and parents/family members wear a face covering and maintain social distancing from others on the playing surface. There is a short window of time that will allow for an exception during which a photo can be taken of the student-athlete and their family members. Once the senior has been recognized, the family will need to exit the sidelines and follow all other gameday protocols.
Please let your parents know they MUST wear a mask at all times, except at the moment after crossing the field when their picture will be taken. Immediately after the picture, they are to put their masks back on and exit the field to their seats.
Thank you for your cooperation.
We are excited to showcase our band for you on the evening of Saturday September 19, 2020. We will begin at 7:00pm in Louisville Stadium. We will perform pregame and halftime, along with a number of additional songs. There are no tickets needed and entrance is free.
The students will be in full uniform and we will reserve approximately 30 minutes following our performance for pictures. You may take pictures of your student on the field, in the stands...wherever you would like.
This event is open to family and friends. Please follow the guidelines below:
* Anyone attending must conduct a symptom check before coming to Louisville Stadium and should not attend if experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19.
* All family groups must sit at least 6 feet apart and must wear a facial covering at all times.
* If you are not taking pictures, we ask that you immediately exit the stadium following the performance.

I’m happy to inform you that we are planning to showcase our band and our seniors on Saturday, September 19 in the stadium at 7:00pm.
This was the original date of Music In Motion. Even though this performance will be after the 1st game, I thought it was important to honor our senior class and allow for parents, family, and friends to see the band perform at our own event...especially in light of limited ticket availability for the football games. I expect to have information about that in the coming days.
The plan will be to sit in the home stands and we’ll have an informal performance similar to our band preview that we weren’t able to have. Our senior class will be introduced and I see the evening going from 7-8:15pm or so.
No ticket sales. Just a fun evening to showcase our kids. More details will follow...but I wanted to allow for this to get on everyone’s calendar.
Additional football game dates:
Our regular season home games are 9/11 and 10/2.
Playoff game on 10/9. If this is a home game, we will perform. Away, we will not. Pending outcome of the first playoff game, then the same scenario would be in place for 10/16.
I have also been informed that there will possibly be home games on 10/23, 10/30, and 11/6.
So in short, please keep all of these dates free for possible performances. Even though much of this is up in the air, I’m excited for our kids and these performance opportunities. Please try to stay positive during this time and email me with any questions as always!
Next week's practices are on Monday and Tuesday from 3-5pm. Uniform fittings for Juniors and Seniors will be Monday between 12-5pm. Sophomores and Freshmen will be fit on Tuesday between 12-5pm. Students have signed up for a time slot on their day.
Picture Day is Wednesday at 3pm. Students should arrive in uniform. We will be taking a full band picture and section pictures. Once your student is finished with their section picture they are free to leave.
Below is a revised football schedule for 2020. Our district administration has determined that the band will be traveling to away games PENDING THE APPROVAL OF THE HOST SITE. So, this is still very much tentative until further notice.
Week 1 vs. Dover is a Thursday night.
Senior Night will be October 2 vs. Wooster
Seniors and Juniors will be fit on Monday 8/17 between noon-5pm.
Sophomores, Freshman, and Eighth grade marchers will be fit on Tuesday 8/18 between noon-5pm.
Band parents will help fit students (4 at a time) in 15 minute time slots, which the students signed up for today.
Please wear athletic shorts and t-shirts. No raincoats will be distributed at this time and no uniform fees will be collected at this time.
Next week’s practices are Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 3-5pm. Students who are signed up for a fitting time slot during practice will come in to get fit and return to practice when finished.
*Color guard members can disregard the fitting information above.*
Pictures will be on Wednesday 8/19 at 3:00pm in the HS gym. We will start with full band and move to section pictures. Individual pictures will not be taken at this time. Students wanting an individual will be scheduled at Rick Black Photography at a later date.
Students and parent helpers will be wearing masks for both the fittings and the pictures. Expect pictures to finish between 4-4:30pm.
We do need parent volunteers to help with fittings. If you are interested and available, please email Emily Severns, Band Booster President at:
Thank you for your patience and understanding!
I hope this message finds everyone safe and ready to begin our season. There are a few reminders and changes that I would like to make everyone aware of.
Our band booster meeting scheduled for Monday July 20 will be held virtually. The meeting will be conducted via Google Meet, beginning at 7:00pm. The link to join is below.
Also, due to an estimated 3-4 week turnover for uniform cleaning, we will be postponing our uniform fitting nights. They will no longer be held on July 21-23. We are hoping to hold the fittings the week of August 17th. More info will be sent out about this once things are finalized.
The above also affects our band picture day. Band pictures will no longer be held on Aug. 5th. Pictures will be scheduled after fittings.
Make sure that your student reads and follows the guidelines that were previously sent out. Please read through them again prior to our first practice on Monday. Make sure that you have a flip folder and lyre for your instrument. These are available at any local music store.
Be sure you are signed up for the band REMIND. This is the primary method of communication in case of last minute changes or cancellations to practice.
Band camp will be held at school this year July 27-31. Schedule below:
8:00-11:30am-rehearsal (home for lunch)
1:00-3:00pm-rehearsal (home for rest/dinner etc.)
Lastly, please know that you will be informed of any schedule changes we may have as soon as possible...directly from me. I realize there are many rumors circulating about school, football season, band competitions etc. I will inform you of changes when and if they are made:)
I hope this message finds everyone safe and sound. I trust that you have had fun this summer and enjoyed the 4th of July weekend:)
I also hope that you are looking forward to the beginning of band on Monday July 20. Color guard will be starting one week earlier on Monday July 13. We look forward to seeing you all and can't wait to once again hear you play your instruments...it's been awhile! Our fingers are crossed in hopes that we can start as planned. Musically, make sure you are ready. Our expectation is that you come to band knowing how to play the music you were given at the beginning of June.
Below are some very important guidelines that must be followed as we begin our season. Please be sure to read through these thoroughly so that you understand what is expected in order to keep each other safe.
Take care and see you soon!
